From Staff Reports

COLUMBUS — East Liverpool senior Cole Dailey could be counted on for a daily double-double.

Dailey was named to the Division II All-Ohio boys basketball third team released Tuesday by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.

One of the top players in the area, the 6-foot-6 senior led the Potters in scoring (16.3), rebounds (11.1), blocks (3.2) and two-point field goal percentage (70.7). He also had 2.8 assists a game.

The Potters enjoyed a 19-5 season that included the Buckeye 8 championship and the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference 4A title, their first OVAC championship since 1999.

Dailey could have done more, but he did what was needed for the talented Potters, who had four players average more than 12 points a game.

Teammate Zavea Green, another 6-foot-6 senior, received honorable mention.

Green averaged 12.7 points a game and was second on the team in rebounds (7.2) assists (3.0), blocks (1.3) and two-point field goal percentage (61.1).

Also getting Division II All-Ohio honorable mention were Salem senior Drew Weir, Beaver Local senior Skylar Pappas and West Branch junior Dru DeShields.

Weir had another solid season for Salem, leading the Quakers in scoring (12.3), rebounds (4.6), blocks (2.0) and three-point percentage (31.3). He also averaged 1.1 steals.

Pappas was Beaver Local’s scoring leader, averaging 15.8 points during a 13-10 season. He also averaged 4.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 2.3 steals and shot 52 percent from the field.

DeShields was one of the leaders on a West Branch basketball team that went 19-6. He led the Warriors in scoring (16.0), rebounds (9.1), assists (3.0) and field goal percentage (48.1).

See page B2 for the complete Division I and II All-Ohio boys basketball teams.

The Ohio Mr. Basketball award will be announced at 11:15 a.m. today.
