A grass fire just south of Tahoka caused visibility issues and resulted in 4 vehicles crashing.
KAMC News reports the crashes happened along US Highway 87 at around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22nd. The first vehicle slowed down due to smoke from the nearby fire causing visibility issues and was rear-ended by another vehicle.
The second vehicle ended up being struck by a third, and afterwards, a fourth vehicle collided with all three of the first vehicles.
One driver was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock and another was transported to the Lynn County Healthcare System hospital in Tahoka. Both drivers only suffered minor injuries. It’s assumed that the other two drivers were uninjured.
US Highway 87 was closed to traffic in both directions for a brief period of time after the incident.
