Travis County, TX Single-Vehicle Accident Injures 1 On Highway 130 – Texas Wrongful Death Lawyer

Travis County, TX — February 22, 2022, one person was injured due to an accident where a vehicle crashed along the side of Highway 130.

Investigators said that the crash took place at around 9:30 p.m. along Highway 130 in the area of FM 812.

Officials say that two men were in a Ford F-150 traveling along the highway. The vehicle somehow drifted off the side of the road where it crashed into a barrier and overturned.

The passenger in the pickup reportedly sustained incapacitating injuries. It’s unclear if the driver had injuries. Right now, authorities say they’re looking into alcohol as a possible factor.

Investigations continue.

Commentary on Single-Vehicle Accident on Highway 130 in Travis County

It’s not unusual to see authorities bring up alcohol as a possibility here. It’s rather common in Texas, and it can be more complex than even a police report could typically address. The reason for that is because a lot of drunk driving wrecks involve people on their way home from bars. Those bars can actually be liable for contributing to injuries like these.

Put simply, dram shop law says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Whether that’s a bar, restaurant, liquor store, or even a gas station, holding those businesses accountable ensures they face consequences and that victims and families have an opportunity to get the help they deserve.

But I only bring this up because authorities rarely address dram shop on their own. Similarly, there could be other potential factors here authorities didn’t look into. Were there mechanical issues? A tire blowout? Road hazards? Some other driver that left the scene? Even if certain factors seem unlikely, it’s important to consider all of these possibilities to make sure those involved in the crash get as much information as possible.
